Tourism 4.0

The aim is to boost sustainable rural tourism through digitalskills and data management.

The main objective of the Erasmus+ DATA4RURAL – Advanced Digital Skills and Data Management for Sustainable Rural Tourism – is to provide rural tourism operators, both public and private, with advanced skills in the use of data and digital tools. The project fosters the adoption of data-driven approaches that can make the planning, promotion, and management of tourism activities in rural areas more efficient. Beginning with a needs analysis—conducted through four in-depth case studies in the field—the project will define an innovative training curriculum tailored to meet the real needs of agritourisms, tour guides, local start-ups, and public institutions.

Running for 32 months with a total budget of €400,000, DATA4RURAL will focus on developing a vocational education curriculum tailored to the specific needs of rural actors. The project aims to empower these communities by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to implement data-driven, inclusive, and sustainable tourism strategies.

By bridging local and EU-level efforts, DATA4RURAL also seeks to create new networks and connections among rural stakeholders, digital innovation experts, and policymakers. This will help expand the impact and scalability of smart tourism solutions in Europe’s rural areas.
