ESA Space Solutions is a program that supports entrepreneurs in Europe in the development of businesses using satellite applications and space technology. They provide different types of funding opportunities such as Kick-Starts, Feasibility Studies, and Demonstration Projects to support the development of sustainable services utilizing space assets.
ESA Business Applications, which is part of the ARTES 4.0 Programme, offers zero-equity funding ranging from €60k to €2M+ per activity, personalized support from a member of the ESA team, technical and commercial guidance, access to their network of partners, and the credibility of the ESA brand. They are particularly interested in applications of space technology to previously untapped consumer markets using satellite data or technology.
There are two main ways to apply for funding and support from ESA Business Applications:

To date, these countries include Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The size and nature of any potential funding involved is subject to authorisation by the involved National Delegation(s). As a result, bidding teams need to obtain a Letter of Authorisation from their national delegations, and include it as part of their full proposal.

ESA has issued an Announcement of Opportunity (AO) to support the development of space-based services enabled by innovative digital solutions to encourage the tourism and travel industry’s transition to the new normal, especially in the post-COVID-19 era. The AO aims to develop potential space technologies to accelerate good practices towards sustainable development that will help the tourism sector reach the Agenda 2030.
The focus areas include the use of digital and connectivity solutions, seamless and safe travel, and guide investments and measuring impact.
